The access road turns off Highway 70 about 26km's after Waiau. From the Mt Lyford Lodge it is a 8km long well maintained gravel road which passes through native Beach Forest and into alpine terrain. It passes through the lower of the two areas at Mount Lyford, Lake Stella the original ski area NOW REOPEN! from here it is a easy drive to the Mt Terako Basin, this is where you will find the Ski Area.
